Richard is a Senior Lecturer at the School of the Built Environment, University of Salford, UK. Based at the Centre for Disaster Resilience, he is an active researcher in disaster risk reduction. His main research interests include adaptive capacity development for disaster risk reduction and corporate social responsibility. Richard is also Joint Editor of the International Journal of Disaster Resilience in the Built Environment and an academic partner of the UNISDR’s Resilient Cities campaign. He is currently working closely with local government and major stakeholders to reduce the level of disaster risk in the Sri Lankan District of Batticaloa.
