About
My PhD project is concerned with the statistical quantification of vocal effort levels across different noise environments, as well as controlled laboratory conditions. This will allow the development of Lombard curves for UK noise envrionments.
In addition, a phonetic measure of speech intensity which takes into account the nature of segmental variation (at a voiced / voiceless level) is also being developed.
The work is sponsored by the British Government organisation Her Majesty's Government Communications Centre (HMGCC).
