Deborah Gabriel is based in the School of Media, Music and Performance at the University of Salford, where she is presently undertaking a PhD research project on African Caribbean bloggers in the UK. She also teaches on undergraduate modules in journalism and media. Her primary research interests lie in journalism, media convergence,alternative media, blogging, online political participation, race and cultural difference and race and gender. She is also interested in the use of critical theories, paradigms and research methods to support critical studies including critical race theory, Afrocentricity and critical discourse analysis.
